How to Measure Your Carpet Square Footage
Not sure how much carpet you have? Don’t worry — here are some easy steps to measure your rooms. Please note that all online estimates are approximate; our team will verify the actual square footage during service.
- Grab a tape measure (or use a laser measure or phone measuring app).
- Measure the width of your carpeted area in feet. Write it down.
- Measure the length of the same area in feet. Write it down.
- Multiply length × width to get the square footage for that room.
- If you have multiple rooms, repeat the steps and add the totals together.
- For stairs, measure the tread + riser of one step, multiply by the step’s width, then multiply by the number of steps.
- Round up to the nearest 5 sq ft for a safe estimate.
Example: A living room that’s 12 feet wide and 15 feet long = 12 × 15 = 180 sq ft.
